Diploma Qualifications

SQA lOGO Extralearn offers two Diploma programmes , suitable for Teachers and Trainers. Both Diploma programmes are validated by SQA (Scottish Qualifications Authority), Scotland’s National Accrediting and Awarding body (sponsored by the Government).

The outline of Diploma qualifications are given below:

Qualification Title Awarding / Certifying body Teaching – learning hours Mapping & credits
Diploma for Teaching Internationally SQA (Scottish Qualification Authority), validated 420 hrs (60 hrs. per unit x 7 units) Level 7 on the SCQF with 42 credits
Diploma for Skill Developers SQA (Scottish Qualification Authority), validated 420 hrs (60 hrs. per unit x 7 units) Level 7 on the SCQF with 42 credits

SCQF (Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework)

The SCQF gives qualifications a level indicating how difficult the learning for each qualification is. There are 12 levels in SCQF, level 1 being the lowest in skills achieved and level 12 the highest including research as shown in Annexure I to this proposal

Each qualification approved by SQA also has credits and is rated against a level of achievement. The number of credits against a Unit or a qualification demonstrates the level and amount of teaching-learning that has to be completed and assessed successfully to achieve a particular qualification at a particular level.

Normally 10 hours of teaching-learning (including assessment and self-study) amounts to achievement of 1 Credit.

For example, a candidate achieving a qualification with 42 SCQF credits would have undertaken approximately 420 hours of teaching-learning.
